This brand was named after Jose Lamadrid Piedra and has been in production since circa 1900. Jose L. Piedra is a particularly noteworthy Havana brand not only because its blend is comprised of filler tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Arriba region but also it is one of only two brands made using the totalmente a mano, tripa corta or totally handmade, short filler technique. Often referred to as the Country Cuban its popularity within Cuba is a sign that this is a very good light to medium strength cigar.
