Peterson have been making churchwarden pipes since 1845 and are modelled on the old clay tavern pipes . The pipes generally have a small bowl, with a long stem and are exceptional light. These pipes came to be known as churchwardens due to their popularity with the European clergy in the 18th and 19th century.
