Robert McConnell Scottish Cake pipe tobacco is a hand rubbed flake blended from Virginia, Kentucky and Perique tobacco leaf with no added flavouring. The premium Virginia leaf creates a smooth base with notes of citrus fruit and a subtle sweetness. The Kentucky is bold without dominating the mixture adding strength and subtle nutty, wood flavours. The lightly added Perique adds spice and rich flavours of stewed dark fruit. The blend is left to mature and marry for a period of time before being sliced and hand rubbed. This creates a complex, slightly sweet and spicy mixture full of rich tobacco flavours. This cool burning mixture is medium in terms of its strength and nicotine content.

Presented in a 50g tin Robert McConnell Scottish Cake pipe tobacco is a hand rubbed flake which should not require any additional preperation before loading into the bowl. If the tobacco is on the moist side it would generally benefit from leaving the tin open for half an hour or so to let it dry a little.

To fully appreciate the flavour and taste we recommend that the mixture is smoked at a slow pace to prevent

• the tobacco burning hot which will impair the taste and aroma,
• the pipe to overheating and potentially causing the dreaded tongue bite.
